The Fig Tree Restaurant at The Manor House

Within the historic setting of The Manor House, The Fig Tree Restaurant reflects the contemporary touches found throughout this ancient property with the additional benefit of fine food served in an imaginative style at fair prices.

This candlelit restaurant attracts visitors and locals alike with an enviable reputation for fine dining enhanced by the opportunity to bring your own wine with no corkage charge.

The Fig Tree Restaurant is named after the biggest fig tree in the whole of England, which grew in the Victorian conservatory at The Manor House. Its trunk stretched from the ground to two and a half storeys high right to the apex of the roof and the branches entwined down the steeply sloping glass ceiling. Today, the dining room is housed in the Gentlemen's Billiard Room built at the turn of the last century.
Light and airy, the Billiard Room has French windows to access the garden and an elaborate cornice, in particular the central ceiling rose that enabled the cigar smoke of the 19th-century gentlemen players to be drawn out of the room and into the ether.

Candlelit, evening meals are served on Friday and Saturday evenings and the French chef has an excellent reputation for fine dining served in elegant surroundings.
His menu changes every week. The Fig Tree Restaurant strives to cook fresh local produce, which pays attention to the issues of animal welfare.

Bring your own wine ~~~~~~~~ With no corkage charge

It is possible for guests to start their evening in a reception room beside the blazing Tudor inglenook fire with a glass of wine and canapés in winter - or in the natural country garden in summer - and then move through to the dining room to enjoy the rest of their epicurean evening with a three, four, five or SIX course dinner …before falling into a king-sized four poster bed, spa bath or taxi, replete at the end of a delightfully relaxed self-indulgent evening…..
to awake late in the morning to a full English breakfast served until noon, or, for the lucky ones with considerate partners, to the unexpected surprise of Champagne Breakfast in Bed either with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or with a full Manor House breakfast – again, served until midday.
